To Writers Who Dream About Being Happily Published

On Saturday January 16, 2010 I will be at California Writers’ Club–one of my favorite groups of writers.

Writing Coach Teresa

Writing Coach Teresa is Teresa LeYung Ryan

California Writers’ Club–SF Peninsula Branch Presents:

“Build Your Name While You Write”  with Teresa LeYung Ryan

January 16, 2010, 10am to noon
Belmont Library, 1110 Alameda De Las Pulgas, Belmont, CA
Cost: $15  CWC members;  $18 non-members

Can you relate to any one of these statements?

  • Agents and acquisition editors say publishers prefer to work with authors who are already celebrities or have established platforms (i.e. means to build fan base).  How do I compete?
  • I am published. There aren’t enough hours in a day to write, let alone run around and network.
  • I believe in my writing and I’m committed to building my career and name-recognition, but, my budget is limited.

Teresa LeYung Ryan says: “You are the expert of your experiences whether you’re writing fiction or non-fiction.  When you make your name synonymous with the themes/subject matters/issues in your writing, you’re building your career/fame/platform.  Writers who dream about being happily published, please go to the January 16, 2010 meeting.”

Reservations are advised:
Call 650-615-8331 to leave a message or email Chris Wachlin at <> with your name and the meeting date.

More info & PayPal available on:

On January 16, 2010 Teresa will debut her guide Build Your Name, Beat the Game: Be Happily Published

Optional:  Here are 2 exercises you can try on your own:

Before the meeting, go to  Key in your own name inside quotation marks (example “Charlie Brown”) and press “Google Search”   Then make a list of the resultant websites in response to your query and bring the list to the meeting.  Be sure to put your name inside quotation marks.

If you have renewed your membership with CWC-SF Peninsula Branch, have you submitted your profile and photo for the Members page of our website ?

Building your name begins with linking your name with CWC.

Teresa LeYung Ryan (author/writing-career coach/manuscript consultant) helps writers build their names by identifying the themes and archetypes in their fiction and non-fiction, polish their manuscripts, and choose the right publishing routes for their projects.

She builds her name by using her novel Love Made of Heart to:

•         shed light on stigmas suffered by immigrants
•         advocate compassion for mental illness
•         help survivors of family violence find their own voices

Teresa’s articles on how to build your name and how to pitch to agents and acquisition editors:

•     In Writer’s Digest magazine, Sept. 2004 issue, p. 46-48   “The Perfect Pitch”  by Teresa LeYung Ryan (how to pitch at a writers’ conference and over the phone)
